This morning I arose in typical fashion (apart from my preferred 6:30 AM Crossfit workout with Crossfit Richardson). I usually spend the first few moments reflecting on how grateful I am for another day and the grace I have been given. Wikipedia defines grace as:
“a free gift of an uncaused and overflowing love and mercy that is totally undeserved.” It is receiving favor and goodness that we don’t deserve.
I have been finding myself reflecting on this concept of grace as I lay down for bed and night and try to send that thought out as the first each morning as I awake. Life sure has been a peculiar one and I do know that anything good that I am or that has come my way is not because of me. It is a gift that I am blessed to receive.
With the amazing journey I am fortunate to participate in with Hope For the Silent Voices, the following quote came alive to me today as I read it as part of my daily devotion.
“If I have seen farther than other men, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” – Isaac Newton (1642-1727)
Thank you to all of those who have so courageously gone before. Those who made it and those who didn’t make it and made the ultimate sacrifices. It is said, “the road to recovery is paved with the bones of those who didn’t make it.” Thank you all!
