I was fortunate to have spent some quality time in New York upon my reentry into the US after our recent Impact Trip to Asia. As life is always such an intriguing mystery and full of twists and turns and incomprehensible “happenings” I so often pursue answers to some of the questions buried deep in my heart and mind. Sunday I decided to check out a place called Hillsong NYC and listen to a message being given. I don’t recall the name of the person speaking but enjoyed his charisma and depth of thought. As a 12 Stepper myself and person who (like so many of you) endured a fair share of bad “stuff” in life, I was struck by something he said. “Your pain is someone else’s deliverance.” Wow, right!
Having spent such a chunk of time in Asia and responding to an assortment of needs surrounding vulnerable people I have often left wondering “what is this all about?” And “why do I feel a sense of obligation upon seeing these things?” It is much the same question coming out the “other end” of recovery. I am now responsible for what I know. This (enter your choice of medication/drug/drink/insecurity) kept me down for far too long and now I have found healing and recovery. “So now what!” Well, that is a dangerous question to ask. Because the ultimate answer behind this question is – DRUM BEAT……………. YOU ARE NOW RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU KNOW!! You now have a responsibility to live out the healthy life you have just learned BUT more importantly; you have the responsibility to share this with others who struggle in the ways you do or did. Thus the title of today’s blog entry. You will be surprised! What you felt would or could be the death of you actually can and is giving rise to life in people all over this globe. There is nothing in this world that hasn’t been conquered somewhere. So keep dragging yourself – begin to crawl – try to stumble – then walk – and before you know it you may be running. Persevere because someone else needs you to. But just as important; there is a life waiting for you that was meant to be lived. It is free from whatever torment tried to keep you down. Welcome to the land of the recovered! Glad to have you!
I would love to know your story or any tidbit. Please feel free to share here.
