The Dallas chapter of The Society of Young Philanthropists hosted their first annual gala this past Saturday night at Dallas Contemporary.
SYP originated in Los Angeles giving young professionals a chance to give back to society in a way they know how. Most young professionals, like myself, don’t have the opportunity to give back to a charity in the way they would like. But with this new organization blooming we have found a way.
This year The Society of Young Philanthropists decided to support the Genesis Women’s Shelter. In April, the Dallas chapter pledged to raise $25,000 for Genesis Women’s Shelter. This year was also the 25th anniversary for Genesis Women’s Shelter who greatly appreciated SYP’s support and truly enjoyed partnering with the young professionals.
The actual gala night turned out to be a huge success. There was a continuous flow of people in and out of Dallas Contemporary and on and off the dance floor. There were fabulous silent auction items, and to top off the night at midnight there was a labrador retriever puppy auctioned off in the live auction. Every person in that room would have given a blank check for that adorable puppy. Overall, the Dallas chapter of The Society of Young Philanthropists ended up raising over $25,000 to give to Genesis Women’s Shelter making the night a great kick-off to a start of a great new organization.
Congratulations to everyone for making this event a huge success!
